Name in High School:
Rebecca "Becky" Lindmark
Name Now:
Rebecca Bauer
E-mail:
Rebecca.Bauer@spps.org
Status:
Married to Richard Bauer
Kids:
I have two boys; Nicholas (Nico) 8, and Noah, 4.
Where I'm Living:
Minneapolis
How I spend My Days:
I teach English at St. Paul Central High School; a fun variety of
classes like Shakespeare, Harlem Renaissance, World Literature,
etc. At the end of a school day, I travel down the River Road and
pick up my oldest son at Minnehaha where I catch glimpses of some
of my old teachers; Mr. Dahl, Mr. Norby, Ms. Swanson (remember typing?).
Kind of surreal in its way.
Hobbies and Interests:
Not surprisingly, given my occupation, I love reading and am just
getting involved in a writer's group again. I am involved in some
peace and justice groups and various political causes that are important
to me.
Last 20 Years in a Nutshell:
I spent one year at UMD and then transfered to the U of M where
I graduated in 1989. I went back to school a few years after doing
some ESL tutoring, when I realized I really wanted to teach. I have
been in school on and off ever since. I married my husband, Richard
in 1987 and we started our family some eight years later. Both of
the boys will be at M.A. next fall despite my deep commitment to
public education.
High School Memories:
My students don't believe me when I tell them that we couldn't dance
at "prom" but that I had fun anyway. I, of course, remember my good
friends, Singers, writing for the Quiver, having my dad as my teacher,
going to soccer games, and feeling like a rebel for dancing!
