Where I'm Living:
Mahomet, IL (outside of Champaign)
How I spend My Days:
I'm an assistant professor in the Department of Educational Psychology,
University of Illinois.
Hobbies and Interests:
I'm an associate editor for TravelGolf.com, reviewing golf courses,
resorts, and equipment for their 40+ publications. I also do freelance
golf, travel, and food/wine writing for several smaller publications.
This all allows me to golf, eat, drink, travel, and laze about for
free...AND get paid for it. I publish a bit of poetry now and then,
too.
Last 20 Years in a Nutshell:
Augsburg College 84-88; Taught high school & college in Germany 88-89;
Ball State U. 90-92 (& met my future wife); U. prof. in Japan 93-96;
Got married 94 in Hawaii; Mich. St. U. 96-02 (PhD at last!); postdoc
U-Mass, Amherst 02-04; couple of kids along the way, now mortgage
and lawn to mow.
High School Memories:
Deutsch ueber alles -- Danke Herr Kauls! Being a soccer goalie with
Chi. Swedish and Spanish classes. Jim Harrison's big truck. Parties
in my hearse. Drinking in the campus room and never getting caught
(can I still get in trouble for this?). Chi, Jim, Chris--good friends
all...
